I still remember the day I lost my first tooth. It was around the first grade of elementary school.
It felt weird – really; because when I chewed my food or ran my tongue along the gap where my tooth had been before, I could feel it was missing. “It’s okay,” my mum said, “It would only feel weird for a while, and then you’ll get a brand new, stronger tooth.” She also said that the reason it felt weird was because it was there for so long and I was used to its presence.
She was right. It only felt weird for a while, and then I didn’t notice the tooth was gone. Sooner over the weeks, a new tooth would grow and fill up the empty space.
If only losing people were just as easy.
